Aviemore is a bustling Scottish village at the foot of the majestic
Cairngorm mountains in the heart of the Spey Valley. It is 40 minutes
drive from Inverness Airport and is easily accessible by road and
rail.
The Cairngorms National Park is an area of outstanding beauty with
the mountain range containing some of Scotlands highest peaks.
Winter visitors can enjoy ski-ing and snowboarding with access via
the new funicular railway. In summer, the ancient pine forests of
Abernethy and Rothiemurchus have extensive and varied forest paths
and cycle trails. Crystal clear lochs offer windsurfing, sailing
and canoeing.
Scotland is famous for its golf courses, and there are 8 splendid
courses within easy reach of Aviemore, where visitors are always
welcome. Slightly further afield there is the opportunity to play
a variety of links courses, which will test even the accomplished
golfer.
There are many other activities to entertain visitors of all ages
from wild water slides to wild life parks. Less strenuous activities
include gliding, salmon fishing, pony trekking or you can take the
popular steam train trip from Aviemore to Boat of Garten.
The Spey Valley is also an area with some fantastic historical
sites - ruined castles, museums and old time distilleries and its
proximity to Loch Ness and the West Coast makes it a perfect place
to stay!
